HOW TO USE IT (Teacher Instrucions):

Pick & Place! is a fun and interactive EFL resource designed to help young learners build simple sentences using prepositions of place. Children select word cards to create sentences, then write the sentences and their translations in their notebooks.

MATERIALS INCLUDED:

  • Word cards divided into categories: articles, nouns, verbs, prepositions
  • A Sentence Structure Card with empty boxes showing the order of words needed.
  • Instructions of the game 

PREPARATION

  • Print all the cards (words cards + sentence structure card)
  • Cut out each card carefully
  • Laminate (plastic) the cards to make them durable for repeated use
  • Organize the word cards into separate piles by type: articles, nouns, verbs, prepositions...

HOW TO PLAY

  • Spread out the different piles of word cards on the table.
  • Children pick one card from each pile, randomly or by choice, to create a sentence.
  • Place the chosen cards on top of the corresponding boxes on the Sentence Structure Card (following the order).
  • Read the sentence aloud together.
  • Each child writes the sentence in their notebook.
  • Below the sentence, the child writes the translation in their own language
